- Clear, bright, from golden-orange to rich amber-red — substantially lighter than most red teas. This light brightness is the calling card of quality smokeless Xiaozhong.

- Whole, opened leaves and buds, copper-red color with olive tint at edges. Leaf is soft, elastic, "alive." Even oxidation without burnt or green areas.
