Evgeny Smoley founded Teamotea to close the distance between the people who drink tea and the farms that grow it. From the start he kept the company’s relationships with producers direct: visiting gardens in China and Taiwan, meeting the growers and buying at origin rather than through a chain of traders.
Under his direction Teamotea grew from sourcing into a development partner for tea businesses: wholesale of Chinese tea, production under partners’ own brands, turnkey businesses, franchise models, brand and packaging design. He remains the principal voice of the company and works with partners from the first order to the finished brand.
